I recommend you to use the SSD drive as your boot drive for Windows. It will increase the performance and speed of your computer.
The config.cfg file is the most important one to save regarding DoD settings. If you installed the game in the default location, then just copy the config.cfg, from your old PC, and paste it (overwrite the new one) in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Half-Life\dod
If you need the maps, sprays, and other DoD files from your old computer, you can copy the entire DoD directory. However, I never did this and I do not know if it will work. In my case, every time I change my computer, I just copy the config.cfg file and start from zero again.
I saw the logs and there is no record of you playing in our servers. Also, your IP address, nickname, or SteamID does not appear in our ban database. For this reason, and as I said above, the fact that you cannot play in our servers may be related to your VAC ban.
Thank you for sending us the requested information. I did not find any ban in our database associated to that SteamID; however, I found that you were banned, by VAC, approximately 5 years ago. That could be one of the reasons why you can't join to our servers.
You can get more information about VAC bans by visiting the following websites.
I could not find any ban with your nickname or IP in our database. Perhaps, it was an automatic ban performed by the system. If you TK three other players, and they do not forgive that action, the system will give you a temporal ban.
My advice is that cheaters should not have a second chance at all. If you have enough and conclusive proof, that a player is using cheats, you should issue a permanent ban on that person. Cheaters ruin games and make honest players to stop playing or having fun. I understand too that racism is something worst, but this is not a comparison. Both things are wrong and deserve a hard punishment. Let’s suppose that you banned a player for 3 days because he was using a wall hack, do you really believe that a cheater will stop using it just because he was banned?. People who use cheats already know that their actions could result in a permanent ban, and they still decide to do it. For that reason, a cheater more than likely will continue using cheats and, as a result of being discovered and receiving a temporal ban, he will try to dissimulate it as much as possible the next time he plays in the server.
Regarding your question, if faced with that situation again, my advise is that you should record a demo (proof), and if you are sure that the player is cheating, issue a permanent ban. After that, if that player ask to be unbanned, his demo can be analyzed by others to make a final decision.
Well, I believe that two perspectives should be taken into consideration when referring to the one-shot weapon mod.
1st Perspective: What is good for the Caen server That mod has been active in the server for years, and many players are happy with it, because they found something different to other DoD servers. In my opinion, deactivating the one-shot mod could have a negative impact on the regular players' population of the Caen server.
2nd Perspective: Do we like the one-shot weapon mod? Personally, like you, and even though my favorite weapon is the Garand rifle, I hate the one-shot mod. It gives people an advantage over other weapons that is not supposed to have. For this reason, some days ago, I sent a message to Merrill asking to bring back the custom server but without the one-shot weapon mod.
To conclude, I think, that for those who like the one-shot mod, it should remain active on the Caen Server. However, it would be great, for those we don't like the mod, to have a custom server with default weapon settings (without the mod).
