There is no god-given human right that people have to play on our servers.

When thinking about banning I usually ask myself this question:  Is this person the sort of player we and our regulars want on our servers?  Do we want this guy in our community?

If the answer is no, then amx_ban.....  He can go and do what he does on somebody else's servers, no problem.

Sounds to me like we don't want or need this guy on our servers - so good job :)

Our servers are configured to only log pointsin GameMe/HLStatsX when a certain number of human players are on the server.  It might be 5 or 6, perhaps another member can confirm.

The reason is to prevent players from abusing the Bots and achieving very high scores when no 'real' competition is present (ie. other humans).  This would make the points system become meaningless.

So - if there aren't enough humans on the server, none of the scores count on gameMe/hlstatsx.

Totally agree.  A custom server without the mod, with map rotation - including Caen -  and an RTV-style selector sounds good to me.  I think we would get some traffic to that.

We know the purpose of the mod is to give less-able players a fighting chance against better players, so it keeps traffic coming to the Caen server.  But personally my issue with the mod is that it creates a fundamentally unfair environment where the better players can run around racking up silly scores with the garand/k43.  Those modded weapons should be reserved for less-able players, and people at the top of the leaderboard should have to use stock weapons such as k98/enfield or the automatics.  People in the top 10/20/30/xx should not be able to use these modded weapons.

Obviously it's almost impossible to police that idea if it were to become a reality - so I know it won't.  It's just my opinion on the top players using one-shot rifles.  I dare say some of them are only near the top of the leaderboard because of that mod...  so it kind of makes a mockery of the points/leaderboard system.

I know it's all for a bit of fun, and it's just a game etc.  So it's all good :)

I support the idea of a stock, rotation server with a map-voting mechanism (and even it's own leaderboard?).  Over time I think we would get a good group of regulars going there for more of a challenge, while we can all keep dropping in on the Caen server to keep it ticking over (and for the MPs to MP it).  After all for many of us it was the Caen server (and it's group of regulars) that got us hooked back into DoD :)

you need to be the right 'class' of player - eg. rifleman gets satchels\tnt instead of smoke\flash.

I too would love a rotation server back.

Issue is that none of us want to play against bots on an empty server, so we go where the people and banter are.  Which is Caen.  If we do get a rotation again we'd need a good push from members to start populating it.  I regularly hear the odd comment about having a rotation server - not many people I admit but hopefully it's a case of 'build it and they will come'.

Yes my understanding based only on observations over the years is that the server remembers the occupier of the 31st slot on the server.  Probably SteamID.

When the number of human players drops to, say 10, and you reconnect - you are still remembered and keep the glitch even though there aren't 31/32 players on the server.

The only way we have noted that people 'lose' the glitch is for somebody else to hit the 31st slot on the server.  This means the server needs to fill up again all the way to 32 so that all slots are overwritten, only then will somebody else takeover as the victim of the glitch.

(or, no doubt, a server restart by Merrill).

You may notice some members and regulars won't join the server when it is 30+ in case they get the glitch passed on - always a gamble!

Must admit I do this sometimes having seen other members doing it years ago so figured it was ok.

And there are certain players (regs, members and MPs...) who, if I kill in allied back alley entrance, I can set my watch by the timing of the grenades that come over that wall to the box.

Hadn’t though it an issue but I can see the point.

I am afk right now but wonder if the angle can still be made after dropping out of/over the allied spawn wall.

Bad luck.  Could happen to any of us.  When you do get access to it again, make sure to set up the 2-factor authentication (steam guard I think?).  It sends a code to your phone when you try and log in to the website or change any important settings.

Just scrolling up in my steam chats and had some great chats with him over the years.  A genuine fella with perspective who was always a pleasure to play with, and a PITA to play against :)
